How to Purchase Property in Costa Rica
Purchasing property in Costa Rica is an extremely easy and safe procedure. Its actually much easier than purchasing property in the United States and unlike Mexico and other countries, foreigners can own property in Costa Rica. These lots are fully titled and registered correctly. The first action that must be taken before you begin the purchase process would be to select a notary public (in Costa Rica, a notary public is an attorney licensed to perform legal acts with public faith). The next steps are:
- Sign a purchase option / proposal
- Send a security deposit
- Your notary public would then perform a title search
- Close on the property - balance is paid and a transfer deed is executed
- Your notary public would register you as the new owner
- Own a place in paradise!
That's it. To bad its not this easy in other countries!
